SLANG Global Achieves 501(c)(3) Status!

Winston-Salem, NC - January 3, 2025 – SLANG Global, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting Spanish language learning and Afro-Latin cultures in Nigeria and the U.S., is pleased to announce that it has been officially recognized as a 501(c)(3) organization by the Internal Revenue Service. This status, effective September 13, 2024, marks a significant milestone in the organization's journey and enhances its ability to pursue its mission.

The journey to obtaining 501(c)(3) status has been a meticulous process, spanning over a year. Throughout this period, SLANG Global remained committed to its mission, continuing to offer educational programs and services while diligently working towards fulfilling the requirements for this prestigious recognition.

"We are extremely proud to have achieved 501(c)(3) status," says Uchenna Vasser, the executive director and founder of SLANG Global. "This recognition not only validates our work but also opens up new opportunities for us to expand our reach and impact. It enables us to further our mission of promoting Spanish language learning and Afro-Latin cultures, fostering cross-cultural understanding, and empowering women and girls in Nigeria's Igbo-speaking regions."

In the past year, SLANG Global has expanded its operations at El Centro Cultural Azúcar in Nigeria, hiring additional employees and recruiting volunteers to support its growing programs. The organization has also established partnerships with universities in Nigeria, offering Spanish language classes and study abroad opportunities.

Looking ahead to 2025, SLANG Global plans to expand its U.S. remote team and introduce new initiatives to further its mission. The organization is committed to making a lasting impact and invites the community to join in its efforts.
