Who We Are
The Association for Spanish Language Advancement in Nigeria (SLANG Global) is a non-profit organization incorporated in 2019 and headquartered in Enugu, Enugu State, Nigeria. The key objectives of SLANG Global include:
to promote the learning and advancement of Spanish language in Nigeria
to promote the awareness of Spanish culture in Nigeria
to support and sustain Spanish language studies in Nigeria
to seek affiliations and partnerships with tertiary institutions in Nigeria to source prospective students of Spanish
to train students in tertiary institutions to become Spanish language teachers serving key regions in Nigeria
to promote awareness and understanding of the Spanish-speaking African diaspora of the Caribbean and Latin America
to highlight the presence and contributions of Afro-Latinos in Latin America and the Caribbean
to establish intellectual connections between Nigeria and Latin America/the Caribbean
to promote student and faculty exchanges and the transfer/exchange of expertise
to establish workshops and training centers that link the knowledge production of Afro-Latin women with the intellectual craft-making of Igbo Nigerian women for the purposes of economic empowerment and self-worth
to engage in community outreach that promotes women empowerment through intellectual craft-making
SLANG Global will support Enugu’s Strategic Plan including the supporting of an exceptional quality of life for all citizens of Enugu through the following objectives:
Create and host cultural events on the heritage, music and art to promote cultural awareness
Encourage and expand opportunities and partnerships that contribute to the celebration of Igbo culture
Promote an awareness of culture’s role in the economic development of Enugu State.
Build a strong and vital cultural center.
Enhance access to cultural resources.
