El Centro Cultural Azúcar is an important part of SLANG Global
Located in the heart of Enugu City, El Centro offers the community an opportunity to learn about Spanish and Afro-Latin cultures through events, art exhibitions, workshops, and festivals. It is also a location for hosting events to promote Igbo culture. The multipurpose space at El Centro as well as the spacious courtyard allow for radio shows, theatre and concert performances, film screenings, and after school care programs.

SLANG Global will operate El centro cultural Azúcar that brings together the flavors of Afro-Latin and Igbo cultures. “Azucar”, the catchphrase by the famous Afro-Cuban singer Celia Cruz serves as a link between the enigmatic cultures of Igbo speaking peoples of Nigeria, and the transformative Afro-centered cultures of Latin America and the Caribbean. El centro cultural Azúcar will be the venue for a variety of events including dance performances, theatrical performances, book launches, art exhibitions, workshops, symposia, and lecture series.

After School Program
SLANG Global runs an afternoon after school program for children and youths. Caregivers will provide academic support, arts and recreation, and foreign language lessons.
The program is from Monday to Friday, from 1:00pm – 5:30pm.
Community-Wellness
SLANG Global offers a Community Wellness Program in partnership with a local dance group. The weekly high-energy dance program involves cardio and music/dance accompanied by indigenous musical instruments like the Ogene and Udu.
Classes are for adults and children.
Community Outreach
El Centro Cultural Azúcar organizes volunteers for a variety of events such as food and clothing drives, baby-sitting, and teach recycling day. Other outreach suggestions are always welcomed.
