Spanish Language Advancement in Nigeria
SLANG Global is a nonprofit organization advancing Spanish-language education and celebrating the Afro-Latin cultures of Latin America, the Caribbean, and the United States in Nigeria and across West Africa.
Through language classes, cultural programs, educational exchanges, and community initiatives, we create opportunities for people across the African Diaspora to learn from one another, build lasting relationships, and grow together.

SLANG Global connects Nigeria and West Africa with communities throughout Latin America, the Caribbean, and the United States.
Our work brings the histories, cultures, and experiences of the Spanish-speaking African Diaspora into classrooms, community spaces, and public conversations. We offer Spanish-language education, cultural programming, and opportunities for intercultural exchange that help participants develop practical skills while discovering the deep connections shared across the African Diaspora.
At our home in Enugu, Nigeria, El Centro Cultural Azúcar, and through our online and international programs, students, educators, artists, volunteers, and community members come together to learn, create, and exchange ideas.
What We Do
Spanish Language Education
We make Spanish language learning accessible through in-person and online classes, workshops, and educational offerings for learners at different levels. Our programs help participants strengthen their communication skills, expand their career opportunities, and connect with Spanish-speaking communities around the world.
The Mask-We Project
The Mask-We Project is one of SLANG Global’s signature initiatives, using education, creativity, and cultural exchange to explore identity and strengthen connections across communities. Through this project, participants engage with the traditions and experiences that link Africa with its global Diaspora.
Cultural Classes and Programs
Our classes, lectures, exhibitions, workshops, seminars, and community events introduce participants to the diverse histories and cultures of Afro-descendant peoples in Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Panama, Puerto Rico, Uruguay, Venezuela, and the United States.
El Centro Cultural Azúcar
Located in Enugu, Nigeria, El Centro Cultural Azúcar is the heart of our local work. It is a welcoming space for Spanish-language education, cultural events, artistic expression, research, and community exchange, a place where West Africa meets Latin America and the Caribbean.
